Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday said that the visit of Indonesian Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri would be a milestone in further strengthening the bilateral ties especially in boosting trade and economic relations.

Talking to newsmen at the airport shortly after seeing off the Indonesian vice president, Hasina said besides improvement of bilateral ties, the visit would have a positive impact on consolidation of democracy in Bangladesh and Indonesia and promotion of regional and global peace.

Listing the outcome of her meeting with Megawati, the prime minister highly praised the decision of forming a joint commission for greater trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

"It would definitely help us cooperate in bringing about economic development and raising of living standards of the two peoples," she said.

Replying to a question, the prime minister said Indonesia, which is a pioneering member country of the Non-Aligned Movement ( NAM), has expressed her willingness to give full cooperation to Bangladesh in hosting the NAM Summit next year.
