More Taiwan-Funded Enterprises in Sichuan

More than 970 Taiwan-funded enterprises have been set up in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The total investment of these enterprises came to US$1.45 billion, including US$949 million from Taiwan, ranking first in the western part of China.

People of Taiwan and Sichuan have maintained close contacts as Taiwan has 400,000 people of Sichuan origin and Sichuan has more than 500,000 people with their relatives in Taiwan.

To date, one fifth of the over 100 renowned companies in Taiwan have built enterprises in Sichuan. The number of companies each investing US$10 million in Sichuan has exceeded 30.

Three Taiwan-funded industrial parks have been built. The Chengdu Cross-Straits Scientific and Technological Park has attracted 107 Taiwan enterprises with a combined contractual value of US$658 million. The Deyang-based Dingtian Scientific and Technological Park has yielded an output value of 500 million yuan since it began operation last June. The figure is expected to be increased by tenfold in three years.
