Chinese, Australian Children Join Hands Backing Beijing's Bid
On the afternoon of February 3, a group of children from China and Australia put on a performance at the gate of Sydney Opera House. Crowds of passersby and tourists were attracted to have a look, many of them waved China's Olympic bid flag, wishing Beijing's final success in its bid for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games.
That was the scene of the large-scale activity titled ��2008 Olympics��Chinese and Australian Children Support Beijing's Bid, which was sponsored by the Australia-China Culture and Science Promotion Council and undertaken by the Australian-China Friendly Olympic Promotion Council.
With the approaching of unveiling the host city, all candidate cities are dashing at the finish line. Whether or not Beijing can become the host city will definitely affect the feeling of every Chinese overseas. To support Beijing's Olympics bid and promote the traditional friendship and cultural exchanges between the peoples of China and Australia, China Beijing LuDanlan Children Art Group (CBLCA) was invited as ��Little Olympic Envoys�� to Australia, where they devoted themselves to supporting Beijing.
The little envoys�� three-day stay in Australia received enthusiastic responses from the Chinese-Australian and local communities there. There were many reports by local news media on this gala. As mentioned above, the superb performance given by children from the LuDanlan Arts Group along with their friends from the Australian Youth Theatre won much applause from the audience. The 10th channel of famous Australian TV Station also reported the whole event.
In addition, these children from CBLCA gave a free performance in Chinatown on February 4 with Nikki Webster, a 13-year-old girl and most shining star at the opening ceremony of Sydney 2000 Olympics. Meanwhile, the flag of ��New Beijing, Great Olympics�� signed up by crowds there was sent to IOC.
Apart from Sydney tour, these little envoys will join hands with children in Canberra and Melbourne to support Beijing's bid.
