Inner Mongolia Reports Largest Corn Exports Nationwide

According to latest statistics, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region last year exported 3.5 million tons of corn, the largest share of the national total.

Last year, corn exports earned Inner Mongolia US$353 million worth of foreign exchange, representing a more than fourfold increase over 1999.

The corn exports have played an important role in increasing the farmers' incomes and vitalizing the local economy, according to a local foreign trade official.

Inner Mongolia has set up special work teams and offices to help increase its corn exports.
