Injured Panda Cub Rescued in Sichuan

A 25-kg panda cub was found injured in Baoxing County in Southwest China's Sichuan Province Tuesday.

The panda is out of danger now, according to local doctors.

The panda was probably attacked by leopards or wolves living in the area, said Yang Benqing, an official of the Fengtongzai Nature Reserve in Baoxing County, and the injuries were sustained about 24 hours before it was discovered.

The baby panda was seen lying near a highway by two road workers Monday afternoon, but it fled into the nearby forest. The workers reported the sighting to the police. A search team found it hiding in a tree.
