China to Promote E-commerce Legal System Construction

March 1 saw China's first Symposium on E-commerce Policy and Legal System held in Shanghai. The experts discussed on the healthy development of electronic network and put forward relevant substantial proposals on law making for the industry.

The experts say that currently, China's E-business is in the course of development, and with the rise of Network economy, there appeared so many new problems and electronic network cases including false advertisement, network fraud and domain name disputes. So an orderly competitive environment is absolutely needed in order to ensure a healthy development of E-business in China.

Experts pointed out that the policy for E-business development should include many such aspects as investment, taxation, technique and security, etc. And they also offered some other advice in detail on other legal matters, including Internet auction, online payment, privacy protection, email, domain name, database and intellectual property.

The preparations for establishing a Judicial Committee for Making Laws and Regulations of China Electronic Commerce Association (CECA) will also be made in this two-day symposium.

Co-sponsored by the CECA and Shanghai Informationization Office, the symposium was held by Shanghai China Chemical-Haohua Exchange Network (SCCN) and other units. Present at it were over 300 persons, including officials from the State Council, Provincial legislatures and judicial organs, experts of the legal circles, scholars, and eminent personages of websites.
