Mouth-and-foot Disease Reported in Kirghizstan

Some 20 heads of cattle were found to show traces of mouth-and-foot disease in Narynskaya in northern Kirghizstan, Interfax news agency reported from Bishkek, the capital of Kirghizstan, Sunday.

The disease has been put under control thanks to emergency measures, the news agency said. Quarantine and inspection stations have been established to check all animals and local meat products to be exported to other parts of the country.

So far, no people are reported to have been infected by the virus of the disease, according to the Ministry of Public Health of Kirghizstan.

Not long before, mouth-and-foot disease was found in Dzhambulskaya in southern Kazakhstan. All the infected animals were slaughtered and incinerated. Other animals not infected were vaccinated.
