Beijing to Invest Heavily on Renovations of Historic Sites
Fahai Temple, known to have a history of 562 years, is going to be renovated on a large scale.
It is located in urban Shijingshan District of Beijing, some 18 kilometers away from Tiananmen Square. A cultural relic housing valuable murals, first built in the Ming time (1368-1644), the temple has been put under state protection.
The remedy work will put more emphasis on the reconstruction of Sutra Tower and Yaoshi Hall and making reproduction of murals in Mahavira Hall for future display. In addition to Fahai Temple, the renovations with an investment of 330 million yuan from the municipal government of Beijing this year also include the Temple of Heaven, Confucius Temple, west road of Wanshou Temple, Houmen Bridge, Jietai Temple, Cishan Temple, Xiannong Altar and Yuanmingyuan Ruins.
