Eighteen people have been reported dead in major explosions in this capital city of north China's Hebei Province early Friday morning.

The explosions occurred at around 5 AM in places including the residential buildings of the No.3 Cotton Mill of Shijiazhuang City.

Provincial and city leaders have rushed to the spot to organize rescue efforts.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
