Beijing to Hold 2001 China Network Media Operation and Development Summit

The 2001 China Network Media Operation and Development Summit, co-sponsored by China Federation of Technicians in News, China Society for Science Writers, the website of the Development Research Center of State Council, and the Center for International Communications Studies Tsinghua University, will be held in Beijing March 28-33.

About 300 Chinese and foreign scholars, experts, government officials, and managers of enterprises will attend this symposium. They will discuss current situation and development of the network media policy and the application of network on news media; and they will create opportunities for the cooperation, investment, trade, and exchange of network media, to promote and strengthen the combination between media and network in China.

Official with DRCSC said that it is important and necessary to fasten the renovation of the means for information dissemination, attach importance to and make most use of information network technology, and strengthen the Internet construction for the overall situation.

Officials from the Network Bureau of the Information Office of the State Council, Informationization Office of the Ministry of Information Industry, and the Copyright Protection Center of China, and high-level managers of Xinhua News Agency, Reuters, Dow Jones, Microsoft, and IBM, will make keynote speeches at the symposium.
