One Norm Governing Whole World Unrealistic: Jiang

President Jiang Zemin said Tuesday in Buenos Aires that it is unrealistic that the whole world follows a single norm for countries worldwide are widely different one from another in economic development, historic and cultural traditions and social systems.

Jiang made the remarks in his meeting with key members of the Argentine External Relations Council, an advisory organ on diplomacy.

"The world should be a colorful one," he repeated his view again on the world situation.

Jiang hoped members from the council, an influential counsultancy department in Latin America, continue their efforts for a healthy development of Sino-Argentine relations.

"Now in the information age, the world turns smaller and smaller," he said. The development of information technology, however, "can not replace the face-to-face dialogue among leaders of different countries," he added.

Though brief in time, Jiang said his first tour of Argentina was successful for he held good talks with Argentine President De la Rua.

With efforts paid by people from all walks of life between China and Argentina, the bilateral ties could see better development, he said.

President of the Council Carlos Muniz, also former Argentina foreign minister, told Jiang that members of committee all admired China's achievements made in economic construction and supported the stance and policy of the Argentine government on China's entry into the World Trade Organization.

Jiang the same day also met with former Argentine President Carlos Menem. Jiang highly spoke of the contribution made by Menem to the development of bilateral ties.

Menem recalled his previous China visits. He said that Argentina hoped China to join the World Trade Organization at an early date for China's admission "can extensively advanced our bilateral ties," he said.
