North China Tourism Fair Being Held in Dalian

The 2001 north China tourism fair opened Friday in Dalian, a coastal city in Liaoning Province.

More than 1,800 officials and business people from tourism bureaus and travel agencies across the country as well as a dozen overseas travel businesses from the United States, Japan, Russia and Singapore are participating in the fair and displaying their programs at 700 exhibition booths.

An official with the city's tourism bureau said the fair is jointly sponsored by the tourism bureaus and associations of 10 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in north China.

During the two-day fair, the sixth of its kind, a large number of tour programs will be promoted, song and dance evenings and seminars on tourism development will be hosted, and tourism-based

transactions will be conducted.

The theme of the fair is joining hands in developing the tourism market in north China, the official added.
