World Chinese Entrepreneur Convention Scheduled

The Sixth World Chinese Entrepreneur Convention will be held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, from September 17 to 19.

Some 5,000 people will attend the convention, including 3,000 businesspeople of Chinese origin from overseas, said Bao Yujun, vice chairman of All China Federation for Industry and Commerce, at a news conference in Beijing Thursday.

The convention is designed to promote Chinese culture, step up ties and friendship among Chinese businesspeople from all over the world, and to advance business exchange and cooperation.

During the convention, two forums, one exhibition to showcase China's economic and technological achievements, as well as a number of inspection tours by the participants will be organized.

The preparations for the convention, which has won full support from the Central Chinese Government, are already underway.

The convention will be sponsored by the All-China Federation for Industry and Commerce, the Chinese Association for Overseas Exchanges, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), China Federation of Overseas Chinese and Nanjing City.

The world Chinese entrepreneurs convention was initiated as a biennial event by Chinese chambers of commerce in Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong in 1990, but the first such meeting was held in Singapore in 1991. Four other similar meetings were also held in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Thailand; Vancouver, Canada; and Melbourne and Australia.
