Dhaka and Delhi to Resolve Border Conflict Through DialoguesForeign Secretary Syed Muazzem Ali said Thursday that situation along the Bangladesh-India border became peaceful Thursday afternoon after the two sides decided to resolve their disputes through discussions and dialogues.The troops of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Indian Border Security force (BSF) were locked in intense skirmishes at northern border areas of the country in the last two days which claimed 18 lives of combatants on both sides. Talking to newsmen Thursday afternoon, Ali said that the two sides agreed to maintain status quo at the conflicting areas and hold talks to resolve the disputes. He said BDR is going to hand over the bodies of 11 BSF men and the two injured BSF men will also be handed over to the Indians after their treatment. The foreign secretary expressed his optimism of further strengthening the already exiting cordial and friendly relations between the two countries. "We will be able to avoid recurrence of such incidents" he added. |
