Chinese Military Leader Meets Pakistani Guests

Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, met Tuesday with Javed Hassan, commandant of the National Defense College of Pakistan, and his party.

Xiong said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of Sino- Pakistani diplomatic ties. He added that the friendship between the two countries is time-tested, and is a good example of friendly relations between countries with different social systems.

Sino-Pakistani military relations are an important component of the two countries' diplomatic ties, he added.

Developing Sino-Pakistani relations, based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, conforms to the interest of the two peoples and benefits regional peace and stability, he noted.

Hassan said that Pakistan and China enjoy a long-term friendship. The exchanges between the military institutes of the two countries will help promote the cooperation between the armies of the two countries, he said.
