Bahamas Choir Makes Debut in Beijing

The Bahamas National Youth Choir made their debut Sunday at the Beijing Concert Hall.

The Caribbean music envoy is participating in the "Meet in Beijing Art Festival" held by the Ministry of Culture of China, which lasts one and a half months.

The choir performed famous motets including "Gloria from Credo mass, K-257" and "The Lord is My Shepherd, Franz Shubert." Along with them were performances of "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" and " On Broadway" by invited pop singer Abbigal Charlow.

The "black angels" will stage performances on May 4 which follows a performance at a culture square in Beijing.

The Youth Choir was founded in 1983 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Bahamas' independence. They have sung in Canada, the United States Russia and France.
