Li Peng Leaves Beijing for Three-Country Visit
Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), left Beijing Friday for an official goodwill visit to Cambodia, Brunei and the Republic of Korea.

During the visit from May 18 to 27, Li is expected to exchange views with leaders of the parliaments, governments and political parties of the three countries on international and regional issues of common interest, so as to promote friendship, enhance understanding and expand cooperation.

Li is invited by President Norodom Ranarith of the Cambodian National Assembly and Prime Minister Hun Sen of the Cambodian government, the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, and Speaker Lee Man-Sup of the ROK National Assembly.

Among those who saw him off at the Great Hall of the People were Vice-Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Tian Jiyun, State Councilor Luo Gan, Vice-Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and other senior legislators and ranking officials, as well as envoys of the three countries.

Li's entourage includes his wife Zhu Lin, Vice-Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Tomur Dawamat, Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and other senior legislators and ranking officials.
