Chinese Top Legislator Concludes Visit to Cambodia

Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) Li Peng on Monday morning concluded his visit to Cambodia and left for Brunei, which is the second-leg of Li's three-nation trip to Asia.

President of the Cambodian National Assembly Norodom Ranariddh and Madame Ranariddh, and Prime Minister Hun Sen and Madame Hun Sen saw the Chinese top legislator off at the airport.

Senior Cambodian officials of parliament and government, including First Deputy President Heng Samrim of the National Assembly, were present at the airport to see Li and the Chinese delegation off.

During his stay in Cambodia, Li was granted a Royal audience by King Norodom Sihanouk. He met with Senate President Chea Sim, and separately held talks with Ranariddh and Hun Sen, in which they exchanged views on the regional and international issues of common concern and has reached consensus on further promoting traditional friendship between China and Cambodia.

Li arrived here last Friday for a 4-day official and goodwill visit to Cambodia at the invitation of parliament President Ranariddh and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Cambodia is the first-leg of Li's three-nation trip to Asia. He is also to visit Brunei and South Korea.
