Chinese Badminton Coach Complains About Seville's Heat

Chinese badminton head coach Li Yongbo complained Wednesday in Seville that the International Badminton Federation (IBF) should not choose Seville as host city of the Sudirman Cup and world championships because it is "too hot".

"The temperature inside the stadium is too high," Li said. "As far as I know, the IBF has ruled that temperatures in the stadium cannot reach over 25 centigrade. But it's far more than that."

He said that the heat has affected the Chinese players' form and have negative effect on their future performance in the championships, which still has 10 days to go. "The heat is only helpful to the Indonesians."

He added: "I don't know why the IBF has chosen this Spanish city to host the championships," Li said. "There is neither sponsorship nor big crowd. The local people don't like badminton at all."
