Macao Security Secretary Visits Beijing

A delegation led by Cheong Kuoc Va, secretary for security of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government, left here Tuesday for Beijing to attend a regular meeting with the public security departments on the country's mainland.

The two sides are expected to sign an agreement Wednesday on mutually notifying the situation of the arrested people, according to the Information Bureau of the SAR government.

The Macao delegation will also hold discussions with its inland counterparts on cracking down on stowaway and perjury, coordinating the operation at the new customs building, strengthening marine security, combating commercial crimes and defraudation and making exchanges on fire-fighting technology.

This will be the third working meeting between the security departments of Macao and that of the inland since Macao returned to the motherland at the end of 1999. A delegation also led by Cheong paid a visit to Beijing in March.
