Musharraf to Visit India With "Positive Spirit": Pak FM

Pakistani Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf will go to India with a "positive spirit" aimed at finding a just solution of the Kashmir problem.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar in an interview with BBC television, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Thursday.

"We are going to India in a positive spirit because if we do not have the positive spirit why should we be there," he said.

He underlined the need of involving Kashmiris in dialogue process while deciding the future of the disputed region.

He said Pakistan has suggested to India that there should be consultations with the representatives of the Kashmiri people.

He said, "the meeting will be a determination of directions. Not think that in a matter of days the two leaders will enter into a substantive discussion and arrive at a final settlement."

"The people of Pakistan will be very content if the two leaders have a meeting of minds with regard to the destination and directions and modalities of reaching that destination," he added.

Sattar said, "my cherished hope is that the leaders turn the direction."

He said, "we hope that both leaders will recognize that the reasons and causes that have kept us apart and have made us near to distant neighbors are addressed."

He expressed the hope that Islamabad and New Delhi would address the root-cause of tension that had been identified in correspondence exchanged between Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. "We hope that they will approach that question in a constructive and positive manner."
