Old Songs Still Popular Among Chinese

Old songs that were popular during the time of the revolution like the National Anthem -- "March of the Volunteers" are still among the favorite songs of Chinese people of all ages.

During a recent good songs selection activity, more than 80,000 participants throughout the country showed their passion towards the old revolutionary songs.

Apart from the National Anthem, those on top of the list include "My Motherland", the theme song for a film about the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea in the early 1950s, and "A Story in Spring", the theme song of a documentary depicting the life story of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping.

According to organizers, these songs are loved by the people of all walks of life because they have recorded the Chinese people's revolutionary process under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

An award ceremony will be held on June 29 during which many original singers of these songs are expected to reappear on the stage.
