Chinese, Canadian Provinces Sign Into Sister Provinces

China's Hainan Province and Canada' s Prince Edward Island Province have formally become sister provinces, Hainan deputy governor Wang Houhong announced Saturday.

Announcing this at a cocktail party hosted by Pauls H. Lau, Canada's consul-general to Guangzhou, the deputy governor said the move marks the formal beginning of an all-round exchange and cooperation between the two provinces.

Officials from the south China province and doctors and nurses of the Canadian Orbis Flying Eye Hospital took part in the celebration.

The Canadian doctors and nurses are expected to give free treatment to Hainan's eye patients during their visit.
