Chinese Women Shooters Impresses Thai Media

The outstanding performance of Chinese women shooters at the 2001 Asian Clay Shooting Championships which is being held here, has impressed local media, which praised the Chinese dominance in the competition.

The Bangkok Post said the 24-year-old Chinese girl Zhang Li who grabbed two golds for both individual and team contests yesterday in the Hua Mark Clay Target Range here, showed her excellence in skills, which eventually helped her to defeat the major opponent, Son Hye Kyong from South Korea, with a fine total 91 points for the individual gold.

After that, Zhang joined her teammates Liao Haiyan and Zhuo Jia to secure a safe victory by 191 points, well ahead of the South Koreans who finished second with 184 points.

Thai media pointed out that Zhang's win stems from her strong self-confidence.

"I am really excited that I was able to clinch the gold medal from such talented shooters from South Korea and other places, " she was quoted as saying.
