Russia Can Learn Some From China's Economic Experience: Minister

Russian Economy Minister German Gref said Monday that his country could partially borrow from the Chinese experience in developing national economy, especially in attracting foreign investments.

Russia would be unable to use the whole of China's economic development model, but can learn from some successful practice experience in China's economic reforms, German Gref told a news conference here.

"This kind of economic model can only be put into practice if there exists a rigorous administrative structure," he said. The only result of copying China's mode would be "tremendous tax evasion," he said.

Russia can partially use China's experience, including stimulation of foreign investment, said Gref. "Today we are working on some tax innovations borrowed from the Chinese but adjusted to the specific Russian environment," he said.

It would be wrong for Russia to copy anyone's model mechanically, Gref stressed.
