Landslide Leaves Five Dead in Southwest China

A landslide, which occurred on July 28 in Ya'an City, in southwest China's Sichuan Province, killed five people and injured one, relief officials confirmed on July 29.

The landslide was caused by a continuous spell of heavy rain starting on July 24.

The local government launched rescue operations immediately after the disaster took place, and helped restore social order in the landslide-hit area.

The city has also tightened up precautionary measures to prevent another similar disaster from occurring.
