Chinese Team Finishes Top in Asian Fencing Championships

China closed their account at the Asian Fencing Championships by picking up another two golds in the men's foil and women's epee team events in Bangkok on August 9.

China topped the standings with a total of eight golds among 15 participating teams.

In the men's foil team semi-finals earlier Thursday, China edged China's Hong Kong 45-23 while South Korea downed Japan 45-34.

The Chinese fencers defeated the South Koreans 45-36 in the final to win the team title.

The Philippines sounded a warning signal to their Southeast Asian Games rivals Thailand, by defeating them 45-31 in the first round of the men's foil team event.
