Beijing Successful in Explosive, Gun Control

Over the past four months, Beijing public security departments have handled a total of 770 cases of illegal production and sale of explosives and guns.

So far, over 790 offenders implicated have been dealt with according to law, and 290 of them have been arrested, according to the local public security bureau.

The cases involved 2,500 kg of powder and dynamite, 12,000 detonators, 3,600 meters of fuses, 270,000 firecrackers, 100 hand grenades and 1,500 guns of various types.

On April 18, the Ministry of Public Security kicked off a nationwide campaign against the illegal production and sale of explosives and guns, and Beijing's achievements since then are part of the national campaign results.

Meanwhile, the ministry has compiled a working pamphlet, which will be handed over to local police at all levels, to direct and regulate the control of explosives and guns.
