Facts & Figures: China's Top 10 Trading Provinces

Following are figures about foreign trade volumes of China's top ten trading provinces and municipalities from January to June, 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Guangdong Province: total, 83.442 billion U.S. dollars, up 4. 2 percent from the same period last year; exports, 43.490 billion U.S. dollars, up 1.0 percent; imports, 39.952 billion U.S. dollars, up 7.9 percent.

-- Shanghai Municipality: total, 29.706 billion U.S. dollars, up 17.2 percent; exports, 13.442 billion U.S. dollars, up 17.3 percent; imports, 16.264 billion U.S. dollars, up 17.1 percent.

-- Jiangsu Province: total, 26.107 billion U.S. dollars, up 17. 8 percent; exports, 14.089 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.6 percent; imports, 12.019 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.9 percent.

-- Zhejiang Province: total, 17.352 billion U.S. dollars, up 20. 8 percent; exports, 11.081 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.2 percent; imports, 6.271 billion U.S. dollars, up 23.8 percent.

-- Shandong Province: total, 15.688 billion U.S. dollars, up 23. 0 percent; exports, 8.543 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.1 percent; imports, 7.145 billion U.S. dollars, up 32.4 percent.

-- Beijing Municipality: total, 13.246 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.0 percent; exports, 3.883 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.0 percent; imports 9.363 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.8 percent.

-- Fujian Province: total, 11.421 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.0 percent; exports, 6.913 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.0 percent; imports, 4.508 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.1 percent.

-- Liaoning Province: total, 9.616 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.5 percent; exports, 4.929 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.0 percent; imports, 4.687 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.5 percent.

-- Tianjin Municipality: total, 8.946 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.9 percent; exports, 4.246 billion U.S. dollars, up 13.2 percent; imports 4.700 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.8 percent.

-- Hebei Province: total, 2.738 billion U.S. dollars, up 9.9 percent; exports, 1.636 billion U.S. dollars, up 8.1 percent; imports, 1.102 billion U.S. dollars, up 12.7 percent.
