Coal Export Exceeds 50 Million Tons by August

China's coal export had surpassed 50 million tons by the end of August this year, an all- time record high.

Sources with the State Economic and Trade Commission (SETC) said here Thursday that domestic coal enterprises exported 51.59 million tons of coal from January to August, up 53 percent from the same period of last year.

Export revenue was up 69 percent by July, and coal prices were steadily on the rise, bringing more profits to coal enterprises.

Officials with the SETC called on coal enterprises to take this opportunity to increase exports and try their utmost to shake off debts this year.

Coal exports will hopefully exceed 80 million tons this year, the commission predicted.
