No Link Discerned So Far Between Iraq And US Attacks:Powell

US Secretary of State Colin Powell said on Sunday that the US so far has found no link between Iraq and Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

"So far we have not discerned any link between the Iraqi government and what happened the other day, but we are certainly examining the links that might exist between what happened the other day and any country and any territory in the world," Powell told the Cable News Network (CNN) in a televised interview.

But Powell acknowledged:" We have not heard, of course, we do not expect to hear from the Iraqi (leader) any sense of understanding of this loss of life."

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, who has confronted the U.S. for more than a decade, said Thursday in comments on the terror attacks that the U.S. "is harvesting the thorns it has planted in the world."

On the same day, Powell retorted that he would not expect "the slightest drop of milk of human kindness to be flowing in his (Saddam's) veins."

Four U.S. passenger planes were hijacked on Tuesday in the attacks on U.S. landmarks. Two of the planes hit the twin towers of the World Trade Center, one slammed into the Pentagon and another crashed in Pennsylvania. Thousands of people are feared dead in the attacks.
