CPPCC Marks 90th Anniversary of 1911 Revolution

A reception was held Tuesday in Beijing to mark the 90th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen which overthrew the feudal Qing Dynasty (1644--1911).

The reception was held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and attended by Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC.

CPPCC National Committee vice-chairman Ye Xuanping delivered a speech at the reception.

Ye said that the 1911 Revolution overthrew the Qing Dynasty, ended the autocratic monarchy that had reigned in China for more than 2,000 years, initiated a democratic revolution in China's modern history, and had great influence on China's social progress.

Ye noted that in the past 90 years, the Chinese people have struggled for the improvement of their lives and achieved national independence and people's liberation. Dr. Sun Yat-sen's aspiration for national rejuvenation is coming true under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

He called on people to unite in the struggle for the complete reunification of the country.
