France Supports Albania's Integration in Europe

French Foreign Minister Hybert Vedrine confirmed Friday in Tirana his country's commitment to the integration of Albania in Europe.

In a joint press announcement with the Albanian counterpart Arta Dade, Vedrin affirmed that France "will continue to take a positive stand about Albania in the European talks as it has previously done," ATA news agency reported.

"I have come to Tirana to confirm the commitment of France to Albania's stability, development and its modernization as well as its integration in Europe," Vedrine added. He asked the Albanian government to continue its great influence in issues in Kosovo, Macedonia and Bosnia which France and EU are committed to solve.

"We both have the same visions about the way these questions should be solved and this dialogue should undoubtedly continue," he stated.

Vedirine arrived in Tirana earlier for a several-hour visit. He also met with Albanian President Rexhep Mejdani and Premier Ilir Meta.
