Parliamentary Delegation Hold Talks with Bulgarian Colleagues in Sofia

Visiting delegation of the Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) led by Gu Jinchi Monday had meetings with Bulgarian National Assembly Chairman Ognyan Gerdjikov and parliamentary Bulgaria-China Friendship Group Respectively. Both sides stressed the development of Sino-Bulgaria friendly relations and positive trend of the cooperation between the two countries.

According to the parliamentary press center, Ognyan Gerdjikov, Bulgarian National Assembly Chairman, said in his talk with the Chinese delegation, Bulgarian-Chinese relations are developing in the spirit of traditional friendship and cooperation, to which the two countries' parliaments have contributed.

When making great efforts to ensure a fast economic growth, Gerdjikov said, the Bulgarian government gives the first priority to the development of intensive foreign trade cooperation with the countries that play leading roles in the world economy such as China. The positive trends in bilateral economic cooperation must be further developed.

Gerdjikov reaffirmed Bulgaria's principled position that there is only one China and repeated an earlier invitation to the Chinese NPC Standing Committee Chairman Li Peng to visit Bulgaria.

Academician Blagovest Sendov, chairman of the parliamentary Bulgaria-China Friendship Group also emphasized Chinas positive role in Bulgarias development in his talk with the Chinese delegation earlier in the day. He said, "With a dynamic and successful economy, China is a key partner to Bulgaria.

Participants in the meeting added that the two countries have always had an interest in promoting friendly relations and win-win cooperation. Joint ventures and projects need to be established to further develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The guests also conferred with members of the Parliamentary Committee on Civil Society Issues.
