Tang Lin Wins Women's Judo 78KG Title

Tang Lin took home a gold medal for China in Thursday's Women's Under 78kg Judo finals.

Tang defeated Celine from France with a yusei-gachi, a win by decision.

Both judoka were well matched against each other. However, two referees awarded Tang the win, leaving LEBRUN disappointed with the result.

Simona Marcela RICHTER (ROM) defeated Belgian Heidi RAKELS to win one bronze medal after scoring a yuka.

RICHTER, who was playing fiercely against RAKELS, hardly gave her a chance to make a move. The Romanian fought well, scoring a koka in the early minutes of the match when making a small throw, putting her into the lead during the bout. But despite giving her best, RAKELS could not match it with the Romanian.

In the other bronze medal bout, Emanuela PIERANTOZZI (ITA) won the match against Diadenys LUNA (CUB) by ippon. LUNA gave up the fight locked in an arm-locked position at two minutes and 48 seconds. This resulted in the Italian being awarded the ippon.
