BEIJING, June 30 -- China launched a digital library on the Anti-Japanese War (1937-45) on Monday, a week before the 77th anniversary since the conflict broke out.

The Museum of the War of the Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression launched the library on Baidu Baike, the online encyclopedia of China's top search engine Baidu.

It features photographs of artifacts preserved in the museum, including diaries, letters and guns, among other items.

Audio and 3-D presentations are available with the click of the mouse, a spokesman with the museum told Xinhua.

"It will allow more people to get to know and understand the history in a more convenient way," said the spokesman.

Japan invaded northeast China in September 1931. But historians are agreed that Japan's full-scale invasion started on July 7, 1937, when a crucial access point to Beijing, the Lugou Bridge, was attacked by Japanese troops.
