Beijing, July 10, 2014 (People’s Daily Online) –“As a new nation, South Sudan views China as a friend and ally. China stood firmly by our side and recognized our independence on the day it was proclaimed - the 9th of July 2014 - and we believe that together we will work for mutual benefit for our sister countries under the principle of win-win cooperation.” So said South Sudan’s ambassador to China Raphael Nhial Kulang during the celebrations of the 3rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of South Sudan on July 9, Sudan’s Independence Day.

According to the ambassador, the government of the Republic of South Sudan is dedicated to maintaining peace, stability, economic development, and effective services to its citizens, and maintaining amicable bilateral relations with foreign countries. In terms of economic development, he told People’s Daily Online that the Republic of South Sudan is committed to economic cooperation with China. He talked with reporters from People’s Daily Online, and during the conversation expressed his hope with that further economic agreements will be signed between China and the Republic of South Sudan during the visit of a business delegation from South Sudan next week.

The embassy’s Counselor Monday Kumba told People’s Daily Online that the government offers preferential policies such as tax cuts to Chinese investors, and the country looks forward to attracting more investment from Chinese investors. He also emphasized that the government operates a China desk for the benefit of Chinese investors.

The ambassador also told People’s Daily Online that bilateral ties with foreign countries is a priority for the government. The Republic of South Sudan has established diplomatic relations with 23 countries and plans to open new embassies in South Korea, Japan, Canada, Brazil and other countries.

Finally, the ambassador looked ahead at the future development and prospects of the Republic of South Sudan. He said South Sudan will be a different country in five years as the government does its best to bring prosperity to the people of the country by promoting peace, justice and dignity for all.
