ALGIERS, July.24 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane of Algeria's state-run Air Algerie has gone missing earlier Thursday 50 minutes after taking off from Ouagadougou Airport in Burkina Faso, the official APS news agency reported.

"Air navigation services of Air Algerie have lost contact on Thursday with AH 5017 flight coming from Ouagadougou to Algiers, at around 1:55 am GMT, or 50 minutes after take-off," APS said, quoting an Air Algerie statement.

"In accordance with these developments, the company launches the emergency response plan," the statement said.

The statement did not say how many people were aboard the missing aircraft, but TSA news website reported that the plane was an Airbus A320, carrying 110 passengers.

TSA said that two emergency units have been set up by the airline authorities, one in Algiers and the other in Ouagadougou.
