BEIJING, Aug. 7 --- A check of 10,000 Ringgit (3,174 U.S. dollars) is turned over to Huang Huikang, the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, by Chen Zhicheng, Chairman of Malaysian Association of China Students Alumni in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

All the funds will be used for relief work in the earthquake-hit areas of southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

Huang Huikang said the Chinese Embassy has received a huge numbers of phone calls to donate money for the quake-jolt areas in Yunnan. Malaysian Association of China Students Alumni was the first Chinese organization to donate, showing the thicker-than-water kinship of all Chinese around the world.

He firmly believed that new homes at Ludian county of Yunnan province would be re-built as soon as possible with the help from Chinese across the world and he also promised that he would turn over these funds to quake-hit Ludian county as early as possible.

Chen Zhicheng said that the earthquake at the Ludian county draws great attentions from Chinese in Malaysia. The Chinese Malaysians would help them weather the disaster, weal and woe.

He also wished that more local Chinese in Malaysia would join them to support Ludian county.
