BEIJING, September 17 (People’s Daily Online) - Focusing on the ancient Thangka painting, the second Nepal Cultural festival will be jointly inaugurated in Beijing by Culture Ministers from Nepal and China at the Capital Library on Sept. 23, 2014.

The unique angel of Thangka painting - the traditional art works in Nepal and China - aims to explain to people that Nepal shares the same civilization with China, which also reminds us of the history between the two countries. Ram Prasad Subedi, counselor of Nepal Embassy in China, said that both Chinese and Nepalese Thangka will be on display, as there are many differences between Chinese and Nepalese Thangka, such as production processes.

Thangka painting also reflects the Buddhism culture. Subedi said that friendship between China and Nepal is deeply rooted in the culture. In addition, audience will enjoy Buddhism culture and performances from Nepal, the country regarded as the birthplace of the Buddha.

According to Subedi, the art exhibition in Beijing will last for a week, and then it will be held in Foshan, south China’s Guangdong province, for 10 days before its trip ends in Lhasa, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The culture festival is held in the capitals of the two countries alternately. In 2012, the Nepal government held the first Nepal Cultural Festival which focused on performing arts in Beijing.
