PARIS, Oct. 20 -- French Open badminton will be unveiled here on Tuesday at the 3,900-seat Pierre de Coubertin Stadium while the most mouth-watering duo Lin Dan and Lee Chong pulled out earlier last week.

The Chinese superstar Lin, as known as "Super Dan", withdrew from his second round match-up with the local favorite Jan O Jorgensen last Thursday at Denmark Open due to a sore knee, while the Malaysian Lee announced to skip even before the Dane event kicked off.

The long-time rivals met 32 times before, including last September's badminton competitions in Asian Games, during which Lin Dan claimed his 23rd victory over arch-rival Lee in the semifinals in Incheon, South Korea.

With a total prize money of 275,000 U.S. dollars, the 2014 French Open features defending champion Jorgensen in the men's singles, top three Chinese Li Xuerui, Wang Shixian and Wang Yihan, as well as the reigning world champion Carolina Marin of Spain in the women's singles, and a bunch of world-class shuttlers in the pairs events.

Initiated in 1986, the French Open became one of the 12 steps of the BWF World Superseries in 2008.
