Peking opera is a fantastic integration of singing, music, dance, art, literature, sculpture, and martial art. Several young singers of Peking opera told their stories on the road of learning Peking opera.

Practicing skills is the process of challenging one's limits

Fu Jia, an outstanding young singer of Peking Opera Academy, is regarded as a perfect singer, vividly presenting gracefulness and elegance of Mei Lanfang School. She got many national rewards. Especially she won the silver award at the seventh National Peking opera Competition for young singers in 2012.

Looking back to the road of learning Peking opera, she shared a memorial thing with us. Once she forgot lines when performing "Wujiapo", a famous and traditional aria, even though she practiced countless times behind the stage. She remembered the secret that a teacher told her before, speaking out an English sentence was better than standing there silently.

Thus she said: "We lost a horse in the military camp, won't they pay for this?" This shocked her partner Laosheng (the role of old gentleman in Peking opera) because the correct lines should be: "We lost a horse in the military camp, is it an official or private one?" After tacit cooperation, they finished this performance successfully.

There are many other excellent singers of Peking opera. They came through many years' endeavors to realize their dreams, and they would inherit and carry forward the traditional culture essence.
