China’s delivery industry, which has been booming across the nation, worked non-stop during the Spring Festival holiday season, delivering 1.6 billion packages safely, a year-on-year increase of 33 percent.

General operation of the express industry was safe and stable, with no major incident as well as a decline in the number of complaints. Meanwhile, the package amount soared up to 1.6 billion during the Spring Festival travel rush, according to data released by State Post Bureau.

The gross volume of packages delivered from the beginning of the travel rush on Jan. 21 to Feb. 10 reached 1.61 billion, among which, some 63.94 million packages were sent during the vacation period from Feb. 4 to 10, bureau data showed.

The Spring Festival is a slack season for the delivery industry, but large enterprises such as China Post, SF Express, and EMS kept operating to make sure that the public could conveniently send and receive mail and packages, putting in place rotational shifts and carriage capacity enhancements.

The delivery companies not only guaranteed the salaries of their employees, but also provide multiple forms of bonuses to couriers. Suning, for example, offered 300 million-yuan in bonuses to employees on duty during the vacation, while JD.com invited family members of those who could travel home for the holiday to enjoy a family get-together in their stationed cities.
