A post-90s female teacher has been teaching for 13 years in the Lishu teaching center of Laibang Town in Yuexi County located in the southwest corner of Anhui Province. Her behavior has won the respect of students and parents.

Wang Xiaojuan was hired as a substitute teacher at the center in 2007. At that time, she was only 17.

Yuexi County lies in the hinterland of the Dabie Mountains, the only pure mountain county in Anhui province, and the location of the Lishu teaching center is just there.

The children in the teaching center represent four different school grades. "There were more than 20 students at the peak, and only six during the lowest down time," Wang said. The teaching site although simple, has undergone transformation and upgrades during recent years. Therein, remote education and multimedia education are already being utilized. Since she began to teach, more than 10 college students have come out of the village.

Lishu teaching site as one of the remaining five points in Laibang town, not only because of the remoteness, but also because of the villagers strong requests that it be retained. People are very satisfied with Wang's teaching. Wang Xuebei, a villager, said, “All the teachers here are very responsible for the students. Everyone in our village respects Miss Wang.”

Teaching centers are an important symbol of "culture" and the "spiritual blood" in rural areas. Wang as a guardian, devotes herself to her teaching work very carefully.

"In rural areas, education is the most direct and targeted way of alleviating poverty. Parents have high expectations for their children. I have to do my best and I really hope that they can go out of the mountains into a wider world when they grow up,” Wang said.
