TIANJIN, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of World Economic Forum (WEF) closed on Thursday in north China's Tianjin, highlighting solidarity and cooperation amid global challenges.

During the three-day event, also known as the Summer Davos, more than 1,500 attendees from businesses, governments, international organizations and academia offered insights into topics including artificial intelligence, green transition and climate change.

This year's event takes place amid a range of global challenges, including slowing growth, debt risks, climate change and the wealth gap.

At the closing ceremony, WEF President Borge Brende said that, as the global headwinds persist, it is more crucial than ever to engage with one another.

Brende announced that the next Summer Davos will be held in China's northeastern city of Dalian.

Established by the WEF in 2007, the event is held annually in China, alternating between the two port cities of Tianjin and Dalian.
