Wang Haibin of China Wins First Gold (20020929)

Defending Asiad champion Wang Haibin of China won the first gold on offer at the the 14th Asian Games after beating South Korean Kim Sang-hun in the final of men's individual foil. Wang Haibin outscored Kim Sang-hun 15-11 to win the gold medal.
