It is far from easy for a country of 1.3 billion population to achieve peaceful rise. During the first half of the 21st century, in particular, China faces a period of both "golden opportunity for development" and "standing out contradictions".
China will never seek and struggle for hegemony; nor will it take the lead or depends on other countries. We are bravely on our way of reform and opening up, that is, in a course related with economic globalization, we will independently build socialism and head for a rise through learning and introducing various achievements of human civilization.

Peaceful Chinese development conducive to world peace, development
China's strategy to develop itself peacefully is conducive to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development, said a Chinese military scholar in an article.

Chinese scholars and diplomats are denouncing the 'absurd rhetoric' of Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso, who said China was "beginning to pose a considerable threat".
White paper helps world learn more about China, FM spokesman
The white paper titled "China's Peaceful Development Road" issued by the Chinese government will give the international community a better understanding of China, said Qin Gang, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday.
