Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf said Friday in Islamabad that Pakistan does not have any aggressive designs but will defend borders with all its resources and people's power.

While talking to members of the Economic Advisory Board (EAB) in a meeting, President Musharraf said Pakistan wants dialogue with India on all issues including Kashmir.

The president briefed the meeting participants on his recent contacts with international leaders both at home and abroad on the current border situation with India.

President Musharraf's remarks coincided with a visit to India by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, who has just concluded a brief tour to Pakistan on a mission to seek a peaceful solution to the current stand-off between India and Pakistan.

Armitage said Friday after his talks with Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee that tension between India and Pakistan was " a bit down following his talks with leaders of the two neighbors."

Tension has escalated along the Indian-Pakistani border and the line of control in the disputed Kashmir, worsened by the exchange of gun fires that caused casualties from both sides in the past few days.
