Russia Stresses Diplomatic Solution to Iraq Issue

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Boris Bolotin Tuesday stressed that his country insists on a diplomatic solution to the Iraqi matter on the basis of implementing UN resolutions.

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Boris Bolotin Tuesday stressed that his country insists on a diplomatic solution to the Iraqi matter on the basis of implementing UN resolutions.

After his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, Bolotin told reporters that Russia will continue its efforts for the solution based on international principles.

"It is necessary to solve this matter on the basis of principlesof international legality," the Russian diplomat stressed.

Bolotin admitted that Russia is interested in Iraq, but a peaceful solution to Iraq issue meets the interest of all parties.

The Russian ambassador also discussed with Hariri bilateral relations, the latest developments in the region and Russia's latest contacts with parties in the region concerning the Iraq issue.
