The investigation team on the Bali bombings said Friday that the prime suspect identified as Amrozi disclosed other names during a police interrogation in Bali, including Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Ba'asyir now in police custody in Jakarta.

"During the police questioning Amrozi disclosed many names, including Hambali and Ba'asyir," Police Brig. Gen. Edward Aritonang, spokesman for the team, was quoted by Detikcom online news service as saying in Bali.

He said firmly that Amrozi had been formally declared a suspectin the Oct. 12 bombing but declined to provide details about the links between Amrozi and Ba'asyir.

Elderly cleric Ba'asyir is charged with a series of church bombings in late 2000 but has not been declared suspect in the Bali blast. The cleric, 64, denied any allegation and rejected to cooperate with the police.

Police believe that Amrozi, 35, was the owner of a Mitsubishi L300 minivan used in the Bali blast, which killed nearly 200 people.

Separately in Jakarta, National Police Chief Da'i Bachtiar toldreporters later in the day that Amrozi had admitted to purchasing some chemical materials and the minivan before the blast.

But a witness has said before that Amrozi spent his time watching television at his home in East Java province when the blasts took place on Oct. 12.

"He remains a suspect and his denial should be told to the court," Bachtiar said in response to the statement.
